Here are some tips on how to keep your electricity bills low and under control:
First, take a look at your refrigerator. It represents about 30% of your electric bill. Open the door and place a sheet of paper against the rubber seal then close the door. If the paper sheet comes out without any resistance from the rubber seal, replace the seal because it's not tightly closed anymore. Unplug the fridge and vacuum coils behind or below to improve efficiency.
Next, keep blankets in the TV or reading room and use them. Then you can lower the thermostat and still stay warn. And for additional savings, remember to purchase you heating oil in the summer when it's cheaper.
Buy compact florescent bulbs that last up to 10 times longer then regular light bulbs while using 1/4 the electricity.
